Elefun

I have been meaning to post this for a while now. I am so proud of my little Collin. He wanted to buy this game called "Elefun." The idea is that butterflies fly out of the elephants trunk and you try to catch them with a net. Kind of a fun idea. The game was over $20 and I decided to make Collin earn the money.

He has been saving his money for about 2-3 months now. I would let him earn $1 sometimes $2 per day when he would help me babysit. He also did a few extra jobs here and there for $1. He spent some of his money on his infamous keychains which is a whole other blog in and of itself - but he managed to save $22 and we went and bought the game about a week ago.

He put his own money up there and bought it. It was awesome! He had been working hard and all that hard work paid off. He loves the game!

Pioneer Day

So the 24th of July is Pioneer Day here in Utah. We didn't do anything that exciting during the day. We just watched the parade on TV. Some people camped overnight to save their spots for the parade. I would NEVER do that! Crazy.
But we did get fireworks for the kids. On the 4th of July we didn't do many fireworks just because we didn't have anywhere to do them. So I bought a few more for the 24th and we had some fun. Collin hated the noisy ones, but Brody thought they were great. We had lots of fun. The grand finale was when I accidentally lit all the sparklers at once and started our own little backyard campfire. Oops!!
I am bummed that the pictures are a little dark, but they are ok. Enjoy!

Brody wasn't so sure about the sparklers.

Audra's little girl, Arien.

This is Collin with one sparkler in each hand. Darn it! I wish these pictures weren't so dark!

And here is the grand finale :

I think that is so funny! Oops! Oh well, we were almost done anyway. :)

Buzzed

So Brody has had floppy hair for a while now. I am not a hairdresser and I really don't know what to do with it. I have trimmed it a few times, but it was getting long enough that I needed to do something with it. Also he had cradle cap as a baby and that was supposed to go away by about 12 months, but it wasn't all the way gone. Now I can give his head a good scrubbing. So here are the before and afters of baby Brody.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Barely even looks like the same baby. His head looks tiny now. :) Don't tell him I said that. Now you can really see his big blue eyes. I think that it went well.

A Visit With Friends

Yesterday I got to visit with my best friend from high school, Lydia. Now that I am in Utah I can stay in touch better. It was hard enough to keep track of myself with all the moving around, let alone family and friends.
She has 3 kids. Hunter, 6 1/2 (the 1/2 is very important), Remi, 3, and baby Bentley age 6 months. Collin just had a great time being a tag along to Hunter. Now he is going to bug me to go to Hunter's house all the time.
The boys played in the "ditch" in the front yard and got completely soaked. Thank goodness I was prepared and brought extra clothes. Then we ate at Del Taco. Some of you poor peasants may not have heard of this fancy restaurant, but us rich aristocrats have dined there often. That was completely chaotic and noisy there. I found myself shouting across the table just to carry on a conversation.
Then we headed to the park to play. The boys played so well together. We barely had to watch them or intervene and that made it really nice. We just chatted in the shade with the baby. Brody would hang out with the big boys and then come back by me. He is just his own little soul doing his own thing. He is funny.
Both of my boys wanted to take care of Bentley. Brody is so gentle with babies. It really is unbelievable.
I brought my camera to take pics of the kids together, but I forgot until the very end. Here are a couple though.

Brody looks so beautiful modeling one of Bentley's bows.

Happy baby girl. She was so good. Never cried!

And this is my Collin snuggling up to the baby. He was trying to take care of her.

We had a fun day with you Lydia. Hopefully we can go to Hunter's house again soon!

Free Kraft Recipe Book

This posting is mostly for Lydia since we were talking about it yesterday. It is a recipe magazine sent out by Kraft so they obviously use thier own products in it, but the ideas are great and the magazine is FREE! Just substitute for cheap brands. You have to sign up with them and I think the magazines come once a quarter or maybe more than that. Check it out!

We Made It!!

So we are in Utah now! The flight was ok, but the layover was killer! I survived though and we are so happy to be here on the mainland again. There are lots of funny little things that I noticed were different. Like how a shopping cart is called a shopping cart, not a wagon. It's different, but it's home.

Darrell will be here tomorrow evening. He went to Dallas to interview for a job. It's a company where he would travel, but be able to be flown home, which can be anywhere. And Thursday he is going to meet with a local company here in Salt Lake. No traveling. I hope they offer him the job and want to pay a competitive wage. Utah wages are a little on the low side, but we will see. I would really rather not deal with the traveling anymore, but I think Darrell is leaning towards that job. We will see.

I am so glad to be back and hopefully be posting more often again. Goodnight ya'll. Mahalo!

Temple Date

I have about a million pictures that I want to put up, but I am so busy with moving and just life right now. I just wanted to tell everyone that we have set a date at the temple to be sealed. August 16th! I am very excited. It's one day before our anniversary so it's kind of cool. We sort of took the long road, but at least we made it, right? Just thought everyone would like to know!

Moving.....

So I know I haven't written a blog for a while. I always say "That's going in the blog" but I just haven't gotten around to it lately.

Mostly because we are moving back to the mainland!!! Next week!! We were going to wait until the end of August, then it was the end of July, now it's next week.

I have been a mad woman running around trying to get everything together for the move. I have been listing stuff like crazy on craigs list and people have been coming to my house for like 2 days straight. I have sold almost all the toys and about half the furniture. It's actually been really fun having people come over to my house and give me money! :)

Anyway I will keep you posted on how it goes. And if you know anyone who need a full size bed let me know. :)
