Gym Modesty

I think that when us Mormons ( ha ha ) go to the gym it shouldn't be a free for all for immodesty. I know that while exercising we aren't required to wear garments, but I don't think that means you can wear short shorts and skinny tank tops. Roy is a relatively small town, surprisingly, and I see the same moms at the gym that have kids in the same preschool and tumbling. They are dressed very immodest at the gym and then I see them wearing garments to pick up the kids. Anyone have any thoughts on it? I want someone to give me a quote about modesty, specifically with garments and exercise.

I would also recommend reading this article in full, but to answer your question, look to the section titled "Teachings of Modern Prophets"

Thanks Amber! I knew you would dig up some dirt for me. :) I guess that I am judging other people and I shouldn't, but I was just wondering what the official word was.

I guess that I'm not the person to comment on this. When I taught aerobics, I probably was the most immodest... :) Nothing too skanky, but I would wear the spaghetti strapped tanks. I never got up enough guts to wear my sports bras or anything, but I guess that that was my excuse to let it all hang out! :) My thoughts are that I'm exercising, and that's really no different than swimming (an exercise) and I'm much more covered when I work out than when I wear a swimming suit... :) However, this is also pertaining to my pre-pregnancy life, so this comment may be subject to change in a few months! :) ha ha!

I agree with Amber and Brooke. Of course I have never looked like Brooke in workout clothes so I haven't wanted to share that with people,(too nauseating) But I also think that some parts of your body should stay covered. I guess it is a happy medium. I think people should be modest no matter what they are doing with one exception there ;)
It sounds like those women have different ideas of modesty. I have seen some of Brooke's workout clothes and I don't think they are immodest. I don't wear my garments when I workout, they just are made to run or do other really vigorous activities in.

Good job Amber on finding the article. I like that one.
